Vukan R. Vuchic, Professor of Transportation Engineering, Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering, and Professor of City and Regional Planning, University of Pennsylvania . He holds a Dipl oma from University of Belgrade, 1960,a M. Eng. From University of California Berkeley, 1965 and a Ph.D., from University of California Berkeley, 1966 .

He is the First recipient of the Dr. Friedrich Lehner Medal, Munich, Germany, 1982. A foreign member of Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts from 1993. A foreign member of Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences from 2005.

His research focused on: Urban Transportation: Systems and their relationships. Intermodal and balanced transportation systems. Urban Public Transportation: Technology, planning, design and operation of transit systems. Automated and special transit modes. ITS applications. Highway Transportation: Design of highways and streets. Traffic engineering. Traffic flow and control of Signal timing. Transportation Networks: Characteristic design and operation of freeway and street networks, bus and rail transit systems networks.
